Choudhury Bazaar one of the well known business market in the city was the first to make a silver tableau for the Goddess in 1951. It has also added 8 Kg of of gold to the Tableau this year. It was also the first one to make Golden crown for all Gods and Goddesses on the mandap. The tableau are known as “Chandi Medha” in Cuttack. After it three other mandaps has also provided their mandaps with the Midas touch.
Chaulia Ganj Durga Mandap will be joining them this year with its 3.5 Kg Gold Ornaments which worths Rs.1.15 Crore. The Puja Committee Secretary Niranjan Sahoo Said,”We have made the crown and ornaments of Maa Durga with 3.5 kg of gold costing nearly Rs 1.15 crore”.
The Manglabag Puja Committee were the last one to have joined the club in 2010, who had spent Rs.1 Crore, it has used 2.5 Kg of gold for the Devi’s Crown and 3 Kg for other deities on the mandap.
