3G users likely to get Power Down in Performance

In my last post we discussed about Govt of India Safety Guideline for mobile phone users. In term of RF radiation India Govt clear all that there is nothing to worry. Today we found some recent news about 3G and the new radiation norms for cellphone.

Customers across all telecom network will experience them a inferior voice quality, increase in call drops and decrease the power supplied to their transmission towers in these days. It is because due to the new norms for towers which is made by the Department of Telecommunication of India and this was effecting from September 1, all over India. India Govt have made the radiation limit more stringent by reducing it from 9.2 W/sq m to 0.92 W/sq m. It is a 10 times decrease but it is lower than the US (12 W/sq m) and higher than China (0.4 W/sq m) and Russia (0.2 W/sq m).

According to the new norms without changing the entire infrastructure for telecom companies will manually decrease the power supplied to the towers and the radiation levels will down. According to this new norm fron Govt India the coverage area of each tower goes down and more towers will be needed to cover the same area. The scenario is that you will get increase in number of handovers required to complete a call. While on a call the phone searches for the closest tower and during this call season call duties are ‘handed over’ to the new tower by the network.

Chief Technology Officer of a leading telecom tower making company, said “More towers mean your phone will search and switch between towers much more frequently than before, leading to more call drops. Up to 5% of calls can get dropped due to increased handover.,” That means you will not be getting the same quality as before. According to this new norms the results we found that 3G tower emits more radiation than a 2G one and due to this it is required to power down them. Therefore, 3G towers coverage area will decrease than 2G. It means you will get much slow process on every service like Airtel , Aircel and Reliance for 3G data transfer.
