The World’s first integrated solar power storage tile has been launched from Kerala, India. A team from Amrita Center for Nanosciences in Kochi, headed by Shanti Nair and Vinod Gopal have invented this new technology.
This product was first introduced at the First International Conference cum Workshop, Nanosolar 2012 which was organized by Amrita Center for Nanosciences at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi and is likely to come to the market in a year or two.
These innovative product is developed by a team of forty researchers. This product weighs 200 gms which is combination of a solar cell and a battery which stores the solar energy that is generated, which can be used at night as well. These solar modules are when exposed to the Sun for more than 4 hrs then they get charged up and this charge can be used to charge laptops and mobiles fully. Another fact about these solar cells is that they can store this power that is generated up to 7 days.
