The McLaren X-1, lunched one-of-its production car based on the McLaren MP4-12C . McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the McLaren division delivering the car behind the pebble beach. The Mclaen X-1 took three years to born out of a tyup between McLaren chief Ron Dennis and the anonymous enthusiast.
MSO chief Paul Mackenzie and design chief Frank Stephenson had set a timeless and classical elegance. They inspired by the final look of the X-1, Citroen SM, Mercedes 540k and the Facel Vega and architecture design from GUggenheim museum, a grand piano and an eggplant. The design of the X-1 is created by Hong yeo, who won an internal and external design competition. He had taken 18 months to create the design of the car. The X-1 passed high-speed and track testing and a full CFD aerodynamic testing schedule to ensure.
The X-1 is a versatile carbon-fibre Monocell chassis of the 12C and uses the twin-turbo V8 engine. The body is fully made of carbon-fibre. Even the wheels and headlights are bespoke and the external carryover from the 12C is the glasshouse.The most dynamic features of the car is the rear wings that over the rear wheels. The bright work, McLaren logo and rear airbreak are the most realible features on it. The length of the car is 4767mm long and 2285mm wide and the height is 1199mm, the weight of the car around 1400 kg. The interior design is fully customised, featuring red leather and extensive use of carbon fiber trim.
