India has been quite descent with its weapon technology from its development but recently the much awaited Nag anti tank missile project of the DRDO has suffered yet another loss because the missile failed to impress in its trial.
The trials were held in Rajasthan in the presence of top Army and DRDO officials, the modified carrier of the missile called NAMICA also under-performed, DRDO sources said. In the trials that held at the Mahajan firing range, four Nag missiles were fired out of which only one could hit the target whereas the remaining were simply a disaster because they failed to hit the target. The officials said that due to glitches in the equipment on-board the weapon failed.
Army officials were not happy with the performance and have asked the agency to come better prepared in the future, they said. The missile has been under development as part of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program initiated in 1980s and is now expected to take few more years to reach the induction stage.
